It is one of those sayings, I have seen it labeled ''Hindu Proverb'' . I have seen the words altered and rearranged but no matter how you say it the message rings true...well, I think the message rings true. There are many who can not abide the message, It is too open, too generous, too broad, too all inclusive. To some there is ONE way, only one,, strict dogmatic, prescribed ''WAY'', and those who believe and proselytize the exclusive sort of one way are defining a rigorous and narrow path, a harsh path that excludes, exiles, rejects and separates us from one another.
To me, this is contrary to  the greater message of the Masters, whether you are speaking of Jesus, Buddha or Mohammed. Each of us sees, seeks, struggles, searches and daily must put one foot in front of another. Sometimes we find others who may help guide us along the path. Sometimes we discover friends, kin and lovers may be walking shoulder to shoulder with us along the path. Sometimes we may get detoured, distracted and discombobulated along the journey but with each new day we take a breath and set one foot in front of another. We all have the journey whether we are male or female, whether northern, western, southern, eastern, fair or dark, first world , third world, urban or rural, etc..each day we, human being of planet earth wake, breath and continue our journey. may we find our paths to be loving, may we find acceptance and encouragement. let there be wonder and joy and light.

~There are hundreds of paths up the mountain, all leading to the same place, so it doesn't matter which path you take. The only person wasting time is the one who runs around the mountain, telling everyone that his or her path is wrong.~ proverb

''We can never judge the lives of others, because each person only knows their own pain and renunciation. It's one thing to feel you are one the right path but it's another to think that yours is the only path '' Paolo Coelho

“Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.” Winston Churchill

“Pursue some path, however narrow and crooked, in which you can walk with love and reverence.”Henry David Thoreau

“I see my path, but I don't know where it leads. Not knowing where I'm going is what inspires me to travel it.” Rosalia de Castro

“As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.”  Henry David Thoreau

“The path to cheerfulness is to sit cheerfully and to act and speak as if cheerfulness were already there.”  William James

“Look at every path closely and deliberately, then ask ourselves this crucial question: Does this path have a heart? If it does, then the path is good. If it doesn't, it is of no use.” Carlos Castaneda

''We all take different paths in life, but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other everywhere.'' Tim McGraw

“We cannot hold a torch to light another's path without brightening our own.” Ben Sweetland
